Why Miravane Chooses to Sell Direct, Rather Than on Amazon

Why Miravane Chooses to Sell Direct, Rather Than on Amazon

When you choose a Miravane wallet, I want you to understand the thinking behind it: the material, the design, and the role it will play in your everyday life.

That intention also shapes where I choose to sell.

I have chosen not to sell Miravane on Amazon. It is not a judgment about the people who shop there or the independent businesses that use it. It is a decision about the kind of brand I want to build, and the relationship I want Miravane to have with its customers.

Every sales channel has a cost

Selling through a marketplace comes with a commercial arrangement.

Amazon’s published seller pricing includes selling-plan fees and referral fees. Referral fees vary by product category. Additional costs can apply when sellers choose services such as Fulfillment by Amazon or advertising.

Those services can provide value. For some businesses, the reach and operational support of a marketplace make it a suitable channel.

But fees are also expenses. All else being equal, an additional selling expense reduces what remains from an order after costs. Whether a marketplace ultimately improves a business’s profitability depends on the sales it generates, its costs, and the circumstances of that business.

For Miravane, my preference is to build our direct channel rather than add an Amazon sales channel.

Selling directly is not cost-free

Our own website has costs, too.

Running a direct-to-consumer business involves the work of maintaining a storefront, processing payments, attracting customers, fulfilling orders, and providing support. Selling directly does not make those responsibilities disappear.

The distinction is not “fees versus no fees.” It is choosing the structure in which I want to invest.

I want to put Miravane’s attention into our own destination: a place where the products, their purpose, and the experience around them can develop together.

A wallet deserves context

Choosing a wallet is personal. Card capacity matters, but so do access, dimensions, and the way you prefer to carry your essentials.

Someone considering a phone-attached wallet has different questions from someone looking for a pull-tab design and a money clip. Someone organizing additional cards at home has different priorities again.

My aim is for Miravane’s website to make those distinctions clear.

That includes explaining what a product does, what it does not include, and which details to check before choosing it. It also means presenting complementary designs as thoughtful pairings, rather than allowing price alone to become the story.

Building a luxury brand for the long term

For me, luxury is not a reason to make shopping more complicated. It is a reason to be more deliberate.

I want Miravane to have a consistent voice, clear product information, and an experience that feels considered from discovery through purchase.

Selling directly is the approach I have chosen to support that ambition. It gives our own storefront a central role in how the brand grows, rather than treating it as one destination among many.

This is a long-term preference, not a claim that every brand should follow the same path.

What buying directly means to Miravane

When you purchase through Miravane’s website, you are choosing to buy through the brand’s own store.

That matters to me. It supports the direct-to-consumer model I have chosen and helps make this approach to building Miravane possible.

I will not suggest that every direct purchase costs less, or that a marketplace cannot offer a good experience. My reason for selling directly is more specific: it is the way I want to build this business.

A considered product. A clear place to discover it. A brand experience shaped with intention.

That is why Miravane chooses to sell direct.
